Postdoctoral Research

The CFPU welcomes Dr. Shawn Dubey

The CFPU welcomes Dr. Shawn Dubey, who will begin his term as Postdoctoral Research Associate at Brown in September. Dr. Dubey writes, “My research is primarily in particle physics. I study the application of various AI and machine learning methods to search for new physics and rare events in particle physics data. My current focus is on using machine learning for anomaly detection. I previously worked on the Belle experiment, where I searched for rare decays at the Υ(5S) resonance, and the Belle II experiment, where I helped validate the electronics for Belle II’s Cherenkov imaging time-of-propagation (iTOP) sub-detector.” Welcome, Dr. Dubey!

The CFPU welcomes Dr. Madhurima Choudhury

The CFPU welcomes Dr. Madhurima Choudhury, who will begin her term as Postdoctoral Research Associate at Brown in October.

Dr. Choudhury writes, “My research focuses on cosmology, particularly on the 21cm line of neutral Hydrogen. I work on applying machine learning techniques to extract the faint 21cm signal and develop parameter inference methods. A significant part of my research is centered around studying the Epoch of Reionization (EoR), a crucial phase in the Universe’s history when the primordial neutral hydrogen was ionized by early stars and galaxies. My primary interests are, exploring various aspects of the HI 21cm signal, interpreting observations, and developing strategies for detecting the EoR HI signal. My contributions aim to enhance our understanding of this pivotal era and its impact on the evolution of galaxies.” Welcome, Dr. Choudhury!
